Conquering Animal Sound - Dancing on My Own (Robyn cover)
I cannot tell you why I haven’t posted about this song yet. Possibly because I have so little to write about it. It’s one of the best crafted pop songs in recent years. This is in large part due to the fact that Robyn manages to craft a track that is in one part dancey with it’s tempo and kick drum. The other part of the song is the exact opposite - a melancholic, wistful and bitter ballad. It makes me want to dance and weep all at once.
Anneke and James of Conquering Animal Sounds does an extraordinary job of simplifying the whole thing and stripping it down to its bare minimum. All that’s left is the fragility and directness of the original. I don’t know.. It’s beautiful and - dare I say - better…?
Yours, Sincerely.
